Conference location

The conference will take place at UICP, 16 rue Jean Rey in the 15th district, next to the Champ de Mars and Eiffel Tower:

Here are the closest public transportation stops (see the maps of the Paris bus and subway networks):

  • Champ de Mars - Tour Eiffel, on RER line C
  • Bir-Hakeim, on Metro line 6
  • Champs de Mars, on bus lines 69 and 87
  • Champ de Mars - Suffren, on bus lines 42 and 82

There is also a taxi station right in front of UICP.

Note: if you have booked a hotel room in the vicinity of the Malesherbes Center, then you can take Metro line 9 at Saint-Augustin station, towards Pont de Sèvres, and stop at Trocadéro station (6th stop after Saint-Augustin). You can then reach UICP by a 10 to 15 minutes walk, crossing the Iéna bridge and following the Quai Branly (itinerary).

Conference rooms

UICP has three main conference rooms. The rooms are flat, but they have high ceilings (4 to 5 meters high) and stages with very large screens (several meters large), so visibility should not be an issue.

Note for speakers: we recommend that you use PDF or PPT slides for your presentation. A computer with PowerPoint and Acrobat Reader will be provided for your convenience, but if you prefer you can use your own laptop. Note that the rooms do not have a blackboard. If you need an overhead projector, please let us know about it in advance (contact).

Lunch

Lunch will be provided on site on Tuesday June 14th, but you will be on your own on Monday 13th and Wednesday 15th. There are plenty of places where to have snacks or full meals near UICP. You can download our restaurants map, which shows the locations of all the eating places in the neighborhood of UICP and gives details about the ones lying in its closest vicinity.  To get information about the other places, please follow this link.

Social Event

This year's social event will be a panoramic dinner cruise onboard an entirely glass-encased boat. After boarding at the foot of the Eiffel Tower (very close to the UICP), the boat will depart for a 2.5-hours cruise that will give you plenty of time to enjoy the food and admire the monuments and city lights.

Check out the menu.

The boarding time and location will be 7:45 pm in front of the Bateaux Parisiens desk at the La Bourdonnais river port. The port is located on the Seine river bank, next to the Iéna bridge, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. Click on the images below to see the access map. The following itinerary will give you the directions from UICP. For those among you who prefer to meet in front of UICP, a group will leave there at 7:30 pm and walk to the boarding location.

Dress code: the Bateaux Parisiens company have a strict dress code and require at least a dressy casual attire aboard their boats. In practice, ties and jackets are not mandatory, but shorts, tee shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes / sneakers are not allowed. Although we managed to negotiate some degree of tolerance from the company regarding the attire worn by members of the SoCG group, we ask you to try your best to comply with the prescribed dress code.

Accommodation

Since there is such a large choice of places where to stay in Paris, we decided not to book a block of rooms in a specific hotel, so you are free to choose your own accommodation.

There are two hotels sitting right next to the UICP:

These two hotels belong to the list of nearby hotels provided by UICP, which you may use at your convenience. Please note that if you book a room by phone, then you may get a discount by telling the hotel that you are attending a conference at UICP.

If none of the above hotels suits your needs, then you can take a look at the list of hotels that INRIA usually recommends to its guests staying downtown Paris: in this list you will find places all around Paris, sorted by district number, and within a large price range. Please note that UICP lies at the border between the 7th and 15th districts, close to the 8th and 16th districts (see the Eiffel Tower on the Paris districts map).
